Healing Verses

In our walk as believers many times we have to go through situations that hurt us, situations that if we do not exercise and learn to take them to the feet of Christ, could represent a hindrance in our spiritual lives and interrupt the blessing of the Lord in ours. Blessings that fill us with joy and that allow us to go from triumph to triumph and from victory to victory.

Many believe that walking with Christ represents a life of victory because we will not have to go through adverse circumstances, nothing is further from reality, walking with our Lord leads us to take up our cross every day and follow after Him, however, there are good news, we do not have to lead a life of defeat every time the outlook turns gray, we have met a precious savior who helps and comes to our call every time we cry out to Him.

The Word of the Lord says in the book of Jeremiah, chapter 33, verses 3:

"Call to me, and I will answer you, and I will teach you great and hidden things that you do not know."

This is our Jesus, Lord and Savior, we do not have to carry the guilt or the pain caused by the wounds, we go and cry out to Him and He will be propitious in responding, in the same book, we find a wonderful promise, we go to the chapter 33, verse 6:

“Behold, I will bring you healing and medicine; and I will heal them, and reveal to them an abundance of peace and truth.”

Our Lord promises us peace and abundance, why then, many times we find believers defeated or dejected due to circumstances, let us learn to cling to what the Lord tells us in order to enjoy his peace.

What makes believers sick?

To lead a life of peace in the Lord we must learn to walk according to his eternal purposes. To do this, we must learn to lead a life that is pleasing before Him, otherwise we will inevitably have to suffer the consequences of our sins. Here we find the first cause that sickens the spiritual life of the believer and prevents him from advancing on the path of blessing that the Lord has traced for Him.

The sin

Not confessing sins becomes an obstacle in the life of the believer to grow, when I speak of sin I mean all those actions that we commit that go against the Word of the Lord and his commandments.

Let's see what the psalmist David says about it, in the book of Psalms, chapter 32, verse 3:

"While I kept silent, my bones grew old
In my moaning all day."

The psalmist refers to hidden sin. In his life there was a situation that kept him separated from the Lord, and therefore prevented him from enjoying his blessing.

He expressed "while I kept quiet," that is, the time he took to confess his sin, brought sickness to his life as a consequence, his body suffered ailments and with them came moaning, we moan because it hurts, because we suffer.

This is a good text for reflection, have you ever wondered why so much pain and suffering in your life? Can't you see the wonderful plan that the Creator has for you? Well, maybe here you should stop and ask the Lord: Father, is there something in my life not confessed in your presence that keeps me captive? If so, then the duty is to surrender everything before the Lord and let our lives be ministered through the comforter and led to what He wants with us.

When we talk about sin, many might think that we are referring to immoral acts, robberies, homicides, corruption, others; but no. When we mention the term sin we refer, as I mentioned before, to everything that the Word condemns, then here comes the actions of the old man that is mentioned in the book of Ephesians, chapter 4 verse 22:

"As for the past way of life, put off the old man, which is vitiated according to deceitful desires."

What are those actions of the old man? All those that we committed before coming to Christ, and that once we met the Lord, we must fight day by day to keep them subject to Christ, as expressed in the following verses. 23 and 24:

"and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,

and put on the new man, created according to God in true righteousness and holiness.”

In the book of Galatians, chapter 5, verses 19 to 21, it makes references to these actions as works of the flesh, let's see what the text says:

19 And manifest are the works of the flesh, which are: adultery, fornication, filth, lust,

20 idolatry, witchcraft, enmities, lawsuits, jealousy, anger, strife, dissension, heresy,

21 envy, murder, drunkenness, orgies, and things similar to these; about which I warn you, as I have told you before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

We might think that believers do not practice such things, and we agree, a true believer should not under any circumstances practice them. However, we cannot ignore that within the people of God we often find enmity, lawsuits, jealousy and anger, quarrels, lies, little help towards others, and it is exactly these little things that we do not see as sin and they do so much damage. to our spiritual lives.

Therefore, the call to live a healthy life is to confess every day, as the psalmist did, our sins to enjoy peace and blessing.

“He who covers his sins will not prosper;
But he who confesses them and turns away will receive mercy."

Proverbs: 28:13

Resentment and lack of forgiveness

Here we mention another important element that takes peace away from our lives and prevents us from having healthy spiritual lives, resentment and lack of forgiveness.

Obviously it is part of the hidden sins that are lodged in many hearts, but I treat them separately because I would like to define them outside of the generality.

The Word teaches us that we must forgive and confess our offenses to each other, let's see how the book of James presents it, chapter 5, verse 16:

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective prayer of the righteous can do much.”

Also when the Lord instructs us in prayer, He teaches us that we must forgive offenses in order to be forgiven, Matthew chapter 6, verse 12:

"And forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors."

It is an urgent need that we have as believers, to learn to forgive and not hold grudges in our hearts, the word teaches us that we must love each other, for that reason, when something affects us and hurts us, our duty is to go to our Father and place the load there, we will not only receive forgiveness and peace, but also divine healing.

The Word says in the book of Matthew, chapter 11, verses 28 to 30:

» 28 Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls;

30 For my yoke it is easy, and my burden light."

If unforgiveness makes us feel burdened here is the answer, confess, forgive and release the burden, in this way our spiritual lives will be blessed.

How wonderful is our Lord, who makes us free! Let us put the Word of the Lord into practice and we will find rest for our souls. The Lord makes all things new, we do not have to live tied to suffering, let his Word work in our lives for divine healing.

Lack of faith

The Word of the Lord teaches us that without faith the Lord is not pleased and that he who approaches Him must believe that in Him there is and that He rewards those who seek Him, the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, verse 6 states it the following way:

“But without faith it is impossible to please God; for he who comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him."

When we feel some burden, we must go to Him. We must be sure that our God takes them and brings us peace. The reason why many times we do not receive that spiritual healing that we long for is because we go to the presence of the Lord without faith. We do not believe that he has the absolute power to set us free than all those who have hurt us and broken us down. We do not learn to appropriate the healing verses.

We must believe that our Lord has the power to act, our Father is in control of all things. Let us remember the psalmist, a man of great faith and a heart pleasing to the Lord. He trusted the Father with all his heart. He knew that when he cried out his Beloved was there to answer them. He always cried out from the soul. We can read it in every text and he received the help of the Lord in every situation.

Memorizing healing verses sets us free

In our walk as Christians we have learned that memorizing the Word and living it has a great impact on our spiritual lives. For this reason, when we feel that something is missing from our lives that does not allow us to experience the fullness of life in Christ, we must search the Scriptures and look for those verses of healing that we need.

Exercise so that our lives are healthy. This will help us to enter into the divine purposes that the Lord has for our lives and we will be able to enjoy his great blessings.

The healing verses will bring in our walk through that life, a renewal that will allow us to have a wonderful intimacy with the Lord, which results in a life of victory.

The Lord has not called us to live a life of sorrow, but of abundant peace, which we can experience when we live his Word. For this reason, we must live each healing verse that we find in the Scriptures, in order to see the results in our daily lives. Do we want to see his blessing? So let's get to work, let's live his Word and be free.

Intimacy with God reveals the path to freedom

When we meet our teacher, we know that there is absolutely nothing that can move us from the path that we have undertaken with Him. But obviously, in order to know him, we cannot allow feelings of bitterness to lodge in our lives that can distance us from his presence.

How can we cultivate intimacy with God? The Word of the Lord teaches us that we must feed our spirit, for this we must go each day to his presence in prayer, seek his direction, relate to his Word in such a way that we allow him to do in our lives the work for which he is sent, as expressed in the book of Isaiah, chapter 55, verse 11:

«So my word will be that comes out of my mouth, it will not return to me empty without having done what I want, and achieved the purpose for which I sent it."

Knowing the Word and living it makes us free, freedom that we have received since we met him.

A believer who feels that the wounds in his heart are very deep and does not find rest for his soul, must come to Him, the Master and have an encounter with his Word.

When we talk about healing verses, we are not just referring to memorizing them and repeating them as if they were magic phrases, no, we are referring to appropriating them and living them in such a way that freedom comes to lives.

A true Christian cannot and should not live tied to a wound, that is not the Lord's plan for our lives, the Word of the Lord teaches us in the book of Jeremiah, chapter 29, verse 11:

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you the end you hope for."

This is a beautiful promise, a promise that the Father gives us, his thoughts towards us are of peace, why then live disturbed, turning over and over again to the situations that hurt us when in the Word of the Lord we get so many promises so beautiful that they allow us to have great joy and peace in our hearts.

If we exercise when we are in situations to live his promises we can be sure that our good Lord will take care of healing every wound and restoring all things, the word teaches us in the book of Isaiah, chapter 26, verse 3:

“You will keep in complete peace the one whose mind is stayed on you; because he has trusted you."

Here we find another powerful Word for our lives, if we decide to change our way of thinking, for Christ's way of thinking our days will be different; There will be no eagerness, nor adverse situation that will take us away from the purpose of the Lord.

How can we cultivate our thoughts in Christ? The Word teaches us in the book of Philippians, chapter 4, verse 8:

“Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue, if there is anything worthy of praise, think of this.”

Healing verses to guard our thoughts

Here we find a precious pearl, the Apostle teaches us how we should keep our thoughts in the Lord, all that is good, honest, pure, just; when you feel tempted to think about the situations that afflict you, think about all the wonderful things that the Lord has done for you, give thanks, Christians must cultivate gratitude, enter his presence with thanksgiving as the psalmist David said, in Psalm 100, verse 4:

«Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
Through her courts with praise;
Praise him, bless his name."

Let us praise his name because he is good and makes us free from all affliction when we seek him, when we cry out to him, let us not exercise in memorizing and putting into practice the verses of healing, our Father is not on his back when we suffer for some circumstance, he is there and he only waits for us to give him his place to heal our wounds.

Walking with Christ does not make us exempt from being hurt, our Lord is our example, He suffered contempt, denial, mockery, deception, betrayal.

The word teaches us that we would also go through suffering, but it gives us beautiful verses to which we must cling in the most difficult moments, our eternal Father is faithful and will not leave us alone, we can be completely sure of that.

The men who walked with the Lord also left us examples worthy of being taken into account, it is not that times will not come that afflict us, or characters that hurt us, the important thing is the attitude with which we assume it and the maturity with which we go into the presence of the Eternal and let Him take all control.

We live in very difficult times, where the love of many has cooled, just as the Lord said in his Word, when he spoke to us about the signs that would appear before the end. Everyone is looking for their own, people are after their own interests. Selfishness reigns in hearts, jealousy, envy, deception, betrayal, lies, and all these are things that we have to face every day.

It is here that we must take our role as true believers. We have the challenge of showing that we have believed in a Powerful God and face, without fear, fear, without intimidation to what is presented to us, because we have also been free from it. Let us take up the shield of faith and remember the powerful and eternal promises of it; Let's live the healing verses. The Lord had already told them, in the book of John, chapter 16, verse 33:

“These things I have spoken to you so that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have affliction; but trust, I have overcome the world.

After having offered you these reflections on the healing verses, we hope that you will read us in a future installment.
