Biography and life of Saint Homobono
Saint Homobonus is a Catholic saint, also known as Saint Boniface, who lived in the XNUMXrd century AD and is considered the patron saint of the city of Cartagena, Spain.
He was born in the city of Cartagena and was the son of a wealthy Roman senator named Calixto. Although he was rich, Homobonos decided to follow in the footsteps of Jesus and live a simple and poor life. He was very kind and compassionate to the poor and sick, spending much of his time helping them.
In AD 303, the Roman Emperor Diocletian ordered all Christians to be persecuted and executed. When they came to arrest Homobono, he offered no resistance and was brought before the court to stand trial. The judge asked him if he was a Christian, to which he replied that he was. The judge then ordered him to renounce his faith or be executed, but Homobonus refused to renounce Jesus. He was put to death and martyred in cruel ways, but he remained steadfast in his faith to the end.
After his death, many people began to venerate him as a saint due to his unwavering courage and faith. In the XNUMXth century AD, a church was built in his honor in the city of Cartagena, which still exists today. He is also considered the patron saint of the city of Cartagena due to the great impact he had on it during his lifetime.
