We haven't heard from the Los Angeles quartet in almost four years. Time more than enough to put the batteries. With the signing of Frusciante for the new album we forgive them everything. This new album by the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be their 13th studio effort and, presumably, it will be released in 2020. The first clues of its existence came to us last fall through the bassist's memoirs flea, titled Acid for children.
With the return of John Frusciante, the Red Hot Chili Peppers return to their most classic lineup (not original lineup). Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith and John Frusciante have agreed on a total of five albums, including those that have given the band the most joy in terms of sales and reviews: Californication, Blood Sugar Sex Magik y Mother's Milk.
Frusciante's list of albums as guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers is complete with the non-minor By the way y Arcadium stage. The latter was (although we didn't know it at the time) John Frusciante's farewell double album. John Frusciante left the Red Hot Chili Peppers for the second time in 2009. This time drugs had nothing to do with it. Frusciante justified his departure by assuring that he felt saturated and tired, wanting to focus on his career as a soloist and guitarist. That same year he released his second solo album: The Empyrean, the one they followed Intaglio Zone Funicular PBX and Enclosure. In addition, throughout this decade he has also released three EPs.
During this time, the Red Hot Chili Peppers have released two albums of irregular billing and with Josh Klinghoffer on guitar. When can we hear the new Red Hot Chili Peppers album?
It would have to be very bad for us not to be able to listen to new songs by the Red Hot Chili Peppers before the summer. We say this because the band has already secured a fairly hefty schedule of concerts and festivals and in which it would be very strange if they did not perform some of their new songs.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers festival tour will kick off on May 15 with their performance at the hangout-festival from the small town of Gulf Shores, Alabama. It will be followed by concerts in Nappa Valley, California on May 22, and Boston on May 24, before catching a plane to Europe in June. For now there are four confirmed dates: June 5 in Athens, Greece; June 13 in Florence, Italy; June 19 in Landgraaf, the Netherlands; June 20 in Lyon, France.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have released a total of twelve studio albums and have been inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 2012. They have sold more than 80 million records since their boisterous appearance on the funk music scene in 1983.
