Why did God form the people of Israel?
This is something that is very clear in the sacred scriptures, it was God himself who chose Israel to work on it. Israel is about a nation from Egypt that was delivered from slavery by God. God chose Israel as the nation to which he would give the land of Canaan, as the nation into which the Messiah would be born. But what made Israel special? Its inhabitants in what differed from others?

“For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; The Eternal your God has chosen you to be a special people, more than all the peoples that are on earth. Not because you are more than all the peoples, the Eternal wanted you and chose you, because you were the most insignificant of all the peoples; But because the Lord loved you and wanted to keep the oath that he swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and has rescued you from bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.”

So why did God really choose Israel? Well, God was fulfilling a promise that he made to Abraham, first of all, you should know that God promised a Messiah after Adam and Eve fell into temptation, after they sinned.
Then, God confirms the coming of the Messiah but that this would come from the lineage of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God promised Abraham that his nation would be a great nation, God blessed Abraham and all his descendants thanks to the great faith that he professed, a faith that led Abraham to obey each of God's laws. This promise was repeated to Abraham's son Isaac and later to his grandson Jacob.
Furthermore, not only for the coming of the Messiah God chose Israel, this people would have other purposes. God also wanted this people to teach, to go to their full extent teaching about Him. Yes, Israel was a nation destined to be prophets, priests and missionaries for the world, who would teach the way to God.
