The grand commision

The great commission is the order that the Lord Jesus leaves us in his Word when he sends us to make disciples; it is a commandment that goes hand in hand with the faith we profess. Every believer, born again, has the responsibility to bring the message of salvation to the souls that still do not know about the sacrifice of the cross.

Matthew 28: 18-20

18 And Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit;

20 teaching them to keep all the things I have commanded you; and behold, I am with you every day, until the end of the world. Amen.

Matthew chapter 28, verses 18-20, clearly presents this duty that the Lord leaves to his followers. It is a key passage that the Scriptures leave us, as it reveals to us our purpose and task, to make disciples for Jesus, doing exactly what our Lord did.

Making disciples represents knowing the other and seeing him as a follower of Christ and instructing him in the Word so that he himself begins to grow in his Christian walk and in turn attract more souls to Christ.

Example of Jesus

Our Lord Jesus is the greatest example we have in the task of making disciples. The Savior of the world dedicated his ministry to preach the Word, heal the sick, cast out demons, forgive sins, prepare the twelve.

One of his keys in the task of making disciples was his closeness to people. Christ was attached to them, and in this way he worked in their lives in such a way that he was transforming them to what He, as teacher and Lord wanted to do in each heart. Attachment is a word that describes discipleship, through personal contact with people. Christ teaches us that we not only preach with the Word, but also with our actions and conduct. Just as he does not teach them he teaches in the book of 2 Corinthians, chapter 3, verse 2:

"Our letters are you, written on our hearts, known and read by all men."

Preaching and making disciples not only allows us to share the message of Salvation, but also to show Jesus through our own walk. It is a wonderful task that expands our work. We must strive to bring souls to Christ and form them, train them, so that once they are prepared, they prepare others and thus make the gospel of Jesus known to all parts of the world.

Just as the Lord did, when people saw and heard him they began to absorb his character and conduct. Thus they followed him and served him more dearly. The Master clung to willing believers.

Another key way that the Lord had to make disciples is that He glimpsed something beyond himself, and his time on earth. He watched the extension of his life and his ministry. Jesus knew that making disciples contributed to the spread of the gospel throughout all nations.

Once we begin the work of discipleship, we must not rest until the person is trained in the biblical principles that will allow him to lay solid foundations in his walk with the Master. That should be the goal, to form believers committed to the gospel, to what the Lord demands of us in his Word. A men and women with a strong foundation will not be moved by any wind of doctrine.

As a complement to this wonderful theme, I invite you to observe the following audiovisual content.

The call

When we decide to walk with Christ, we thus assume the unique call for all. Many apart from making disciples have a specific call to ministry. As the Word reveals in the book of Ephesians, chapter 4, verse 11:

“And he himself appointed some, apostles; to others, prophets; to others, evangelists; to others, pastors and teachers.”

Each and every one of them for the edification of the church. However, regardless of the ministry they exercise, we all have the responsibility to make disciples, it is the main call that every believer receives when beginning to walk with Jesus. Train, form men and women who with love preach and defend the healthy teachings that the Master left us. The Great Commission is a great responsibility that we have as believers. It is our primary purpose in walking with Christ, to disciple others, to choose believers who are willing to follow him and give everything for him.

The promise

This wonderful call holds a beautiful promise for our lives. The Lord not only sends us, but promises to be with us every day until the end of the world, a promise that we can find in the book of Matthew, chapter 28, verse 20.

We should not be afraid to do homework. With all confidence in the Father we must comply with what the Lord demands of us in the great commission.

It is not an easy task, we will not always be able to find someone who is willing to give up many things to follow Him. However, the joy that allows us to fulfill the Lord and knowing that He is with us in such beautiful work drives us every day to want to get more followers for Christ.

The Lord is with us every day until the end of the world, that is, there is not a day that his company does not encourage us. We must gain strength and motivate ourselves to take Christ Jesus to the nations. Starting from the closest ones, inspiring with our testimony the desire to be disciples of our beloved Lord and Savior.

The attitude to learn is extremely important. The disciple must be fully open so that the Master can form him and lead him to the stature of knowledge that He desires. It cannot be formed halfway, both the disciple and the discipler must be open to receiving, wanting, wanting to learn more and more to obtain spiritual growth with solid foundations and foundations.

Walk with your disciple, be an example, let him know you, study, teach, preach, rest and that the disciple can see Christ in you
