Ismael Cala was born on September 8, 1969 in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. He is the son of Ismael Miguel Cala Quinta and Tania María López. He is a journalist, speaker, producer, radio and television presenter and writer. He became known thanks to the program that was broadcast at night on the CNN channel in Spanish until July 01, 2016.
Cala grew up and studied in her hometown where from an early age she experienced the world of radio at the CMKC radio station, a Cuban radio station, where she made her first appearance when she was only eight years old.
Audiovisual media education began specifically on the radio, with the help of writer and director Nilda G. Alemán. She would later begin her studies at the Universidad de Oriente, specializing in Art History. She worked on a radio and television program in her native country called Five to Seven and on a game show known as Who Knows on the Cubavisión channel.
In 1998 he managed to get to Toronto, Canada where he focused on studying journalism at the University of York between 2001 and 2003. He also enrolled at Seneca College in order to become a professional in television production.
His work outside of Cuba began as a correspondent for the international network CNN, where he filled in for the Spanish version of this news center. Later they would give him the opportunity to be the host of the biographical reportage space called Calando on the Telelatino Network.
Later he moved to Miami where he worked as a guest host for Despierta América on Univisión and managed to work as a reporter for CNN en Español in events of great importance such as the execution of Saddam Hussein and Hurricane Frances in 2004.
