Today ends the splendor with which Eminem has spent practically the entire year 2019 celebrating his two decades of success mainstream sheltered by Dr.Dre and Jimmy Iovine's Interscope record label. Today the double CD and triple vinyl of The Slim Shady LP 2: Expanded edition.

This is a very special edition of the first of Eminem's albums (not counting Infinite, of which only 1000 cassettes existed). In Postposmo We detail what exactly this special edition includes of what for many is still Eminem's best album. That which, in addition to including my name is, it also had jewelry like I just don't give a fuck.

Actually The Slim Shady LP 20: Expanded edition exists since February 2019 on platforms of streaming. In fact, the real anniversary of the album was during that month. Eminem has already taken the opportunity to sell a "capsule" full of collector's items dedicated to all the imaginary Slim Shady. There was everything from a Lego figurine of Eminem to a vinyl with two sides (and one song per side, I just don't give a fuck and Still don't give a fuck with Royce da 5 9.

The novelty that concerns us today is that Interscope has decided to release the expanded version on double CD and vinyl. This Expanded Edition does not have any remastering of its sound. It contains the original twenty cuts and ten additional ones consisting of a capellas and instrumental versions. And for the motivated, it is also available the Expanded Collector's Edition at the low price of $150 which includes

  • A vinyl binder with a three-dimensional effect cover (and capacity for three vinyls).
  • High-quality photography book with 24 images (some previously unpublished) taken by photographer Danny Hastings in the original 1999 session to illustrate The Slim Shady LP (Skam2's artwork)
  • Poster
  • And, of course, the complete tracklist with the 30 cuts

A nuclear detonation called 'The Slim shady LP'

The Slim Shady LP began a six-year term in which, Like Phelps, like Messi, like Bolt, the word success became useless for the label. Popular belief is that the then-ubiquitous 'My Name Is' was Eminem's first single, and it wasn't. Before the atomic bomb, there was a first failed experimental test called I just don't give a fuck.

Released on radio and television on October 13, 1998, the song went almost unnoticed. Although the bad boy message was already there, it was too lyrical and elaborate. That the video clip was in black and white did not help. The cut, which was already part of Eminem's second demo, The Slim Shady EP, was remarkably refreshed by the master ear of Dr. Dre (a producer legend since the days of NWA., and maximum totem (after the murders of Biggie y 2Pac) at that time of rap as a mass genre). Without the mediation of this godfather, Eminem would not have had a musical career. He himself has recognized it in countless interviews: “Dr. Dre saved my life."

Today, I just don't give a fuck It's still one of Eminem's best songs. Also one of the least known. Cwith the demon of his alter ego released, is one of the first examples of the constant fiddling with rhyme throughout all the lines (and not only at the end) combined with the basic ingredients of the insane message that will be repeated in all his subsequent work: misogyny, substance abuse, childhood memories and a miserable life turned into stardom:

I can't take the pressure, I'm sick of bitches
Sick of naggin' bosses bitchin' while I'm washin' dishes
In school I never said muchtoo busy havin' a head rush
doin' too muchrush had my face flushed like network blush
Then I went to Jim Beam, that's when my do whatgrayed
Went to gym ineighth grade, raped the women's swim team

I can't stand the pressure, I'm sick of whores
Sick of complaining bosses bitching at me while I do the dishes
At school I never said much, I was too busy with dizziness
From so much rush (Popper) my face was turning red
Then I switched to Jim Beam (whiskey), that's when my face turned gray
I joined the gym in the XNUMXth grade and raped the girls swim team.

At 47 years old and with ten studio albums behind him (two of them from Diamante, The Marshall Mathers LP and The Eminem Show), Eminem is fitter than ever. Just a few days ago he released his fifth collaboration of 2019 (Lord Above along with Fat Joe, Dre and Mary J Blige) and right now, as you read these lines, it keeps the umpteenth beef against one of his historical enmities: Nick Cannon.

There is no lack of those who think that this beef is being nothing more than a pantomime-warm-up for the release of Eminem's eleventh album. It is expected that sooner rather than later Eminem will release (perhaps by surprise) his new album, a continuation of the successful Suicide bomber. It is to be expected that the path of the latter will continue and that it will leave for oblivion the defenestrated way of rock/pop/rap that gave such questionable results of criticism and reception in Revive.
