Arriving at the slaughterhouse, his master found out what had happened, tried to kill him, Berganza had to stampede out of the place. He walked through many places, until he came to a flock of sheep, and a new owner opened the doors of the place, dedicated to taking care of the sheep.

It happened that the shepherds, when finding a dead sheep, the dogs were mistreated and Berganza did not escape this, every day a sheep destroyed by wolves appeared. He failed to see the ferocious animal that did the deed, which caused him a strong punishment.

Exhausted from the mistreatment that the shepherd gave him, he thought that the best thing was to flee from the place, until he arrived in Seville, getting a master, a very rich businessman. Berganza, to enter the house, would have to wait for his master to arrive, to whom he showed signs of affection, wagging his tail, bowing his head to the beat that licked his shoes, so the man accepted him, carrying out the work of house guardian.

The family had a domestic, who stole the keys to the house every night, to go share with a house worker, because she was very much in love with him. In addition, she took many things owned by the family, but Berganza did not give her away, and in gratitude she fed him.

Until the day came when Berganza held her so that she wouldn't continue stealing, she sank her teeth and destroyed part of her dress, the enraged woman stopped feeding her to take revenge.

From then on, Berganza begins to wander through all the streets, and meets a bailiff, known to his first master, he recognizes him and takes his friend Nicolás again, who does not accept him, he is hurt because he had escaped. .

The bailiff decides to take him to accompany him to his house, being another master in Berganza's life. So he spent a lot of time at the bailiff's house, but one day he was tired of dealing with thieves and women of the happy life and decides to leave his mistress. He continued with his wanderings.

While he was walking alone on his way, he ran into a poet, who would be his last master, he did not have time for Berganza, he fed on the leftovers of the poet.
