Jesus has already won
John 16:33 does not assure:

The Lord Jesus overcame, going to certain death on the Cross and having risen, speaks to us of his victory over death.
That is why the Lord tells us to trust and to have peace, that peace that only he gives, and he warns us that here in the world we will have afflictions, because they did not tell us that it would be easy to go through that land.
