El Gospel of Matthew It is the first book that is presented in the New Testament of the Holy Bible chronologically. The writing is estimated to date between 50 and 70 AD, and contains an account of how Jesus performed his miracles, his sermons, and his teachings before his crucifixion. The purpose of this Gospel is focused on demonstrating that the Messiah that was announced in the Old Testament is Jesus.
It is important to highlight the consistency between the four Gospels at the time of being written. For historians it is tangible proof that God sent his son to Earth, who was crucified for our salvation. It is the longest Gospel, it consists of twenty-eight chapters that specifies the historical events that surrounded the Son of God.
Among the latests Moravia's compositions Characteristics of the Gospel of Matthew we have that he is the apostle who used the most references from the Old Testament, this in order for it to be a Gospel that the Jewish people understood. In the same way these writings are classified in eight segments in which we can observe how the fulfillment of the Hebrew Prophecy became true.
Importance of the Gospel of Matthew
The Gospel of Matthew shows us many lessons, works, parables and testimonies of how the Lord Jesus was on Earth. Matthew describes Jesus in a way for the Jews to see that the Messiah that was prophesied in the Old Testament came and sacrificed himself for each one of us.
On the other hand, Matthew shows us how Jesus had a life without sin, dedicated to his neighbor and his needs. He details different miracles healing the sick, curing people who suffered from madness, raising the dead, among others.
It also shows us that the Gospel, because it was written for the Jewish community, Jesus is never called the Son of God, which reflects the ancient traditions which referred to the fact that the name of God could not be named. Jesus, on the other hand, was called the Son of Man, fulfilling the prophecies of Daniel and Ezekiel who called him that.
Like all the Gospels, they show us from different points of view the delivery of the Lord Jesus Christ, the vexations to which he suffered because of us, the crucifixion, the resurrection and ascending to heaven with his Father. Let us wait with faith for the coming of the Lord Jesus.
