There is a lot of information about the relationship that exists with the children of Shango and the children of Oshun, since both cannot be close because they do not tolerate each other. This is explained by a story that exists in the Yoruba religion, since the Orisha Olofin indicates that due to the death of the Orisha Shango he gave to the people of Oshun.

What Shango did resulted in death, misery and poverty and did not allow Oshun to eliminate all those negative environments. This confrontation between the two Orishas resulted in a battle called the Fire of Shango against the waters of Oshun.

Pataki and the children of Shango

The word Pataki is a term used in the Yoruba religion to tell stories. In this part of the article we will tell some about the Orisha Shango so that his children are aware of everything that Shango has happened.

Once Oshun and Shango lived together, but they were going through a great economic crisis, they even had problems buying food. The supreme King always organized a party every Monday and invited all the Orisha to a great banquet.

The tradition was that all the Orisha gave presents and gifts to each other and these gifts consisted of jewelry and gold. But Shango and Oshun could not attend the party due to their economic situation.

The Orisha Olofin, seeing their situation, convinced the couple to go to the banquet and bring a simple gift. When they went to the party, the orisha Olofin gave each guest a pumpkin from Castile. This gift greatly displeased the other guests.

When leaving the party, Shango and Oshun were outside asking for food and each Orisha that passed by left the pumpkins for them. This couple, noticing that the pumpkins were very heavy, decided to open them and discovered that they were all full of gold and jewels and from that moment the couple began to live in wealth.

Another story or pataki about Shango is the following. Being a day of great importance since the men were paying honors to the ancestors. Shango was in front of them and the Iyámi Ajé designed clothes the same as those used by the Egúngún, the ancestors dressed in clothes that they made and went where the ceremony was taking place since they had the intention of scaring all the attendees.

When the Iyámi Ajé arrived, dressed as the ancestors, all the people who were in the place ran out of fear that gave them, only the Orisha Shango who stayed there to face the supposed ghosts.

The Iyámi Ajé were very upset when they saw that the Orisha Shango did not run away from the place and instead he confronted them, that is why they decided to take revenge one day on the Orisha Shango.

After spending a lot of time on that event, Shango was distracted attending to his subjects and his kingdom, which was very prosperous. While his daughter that he loved the most was playing in the abbey and the Iyámi Ajé noticed that in order to carry out his revenge.

They knocked down the abbey where Shango's daughter was, she died instantly. After the death of her daughter Shango she couldn't do anything else because he felt very sad for the loss of her most beloved daughter. He was desperate for what had happened.

Shango made the decision to consult Orunmila who told him that the Iyámi Ajé were responsible for the death of his daughter. He also gave him the advice to bring offerings to the guardian of the gates of the world of the dead, the Orisha Iku, Oniborun. He did so and he was able to bring his daughter back to life.

But he also found a way to control the mysteries of the Egúngún ancestors. He later passed this knowledge on to men. That is why the participation of women in the cult of the ancestors was prohibited. This rule, when not followed, unleashes the wrath of Olorum, Shangó, Iku and the women will pay for their imprudence.
