It affirms the importance of meditating on the promises of the Lord and thus being protected from any dart of the enemy, protected by his promises.
Psalm 34
«4I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me;
freed me from all my fears.
5Those who seek his help will be radiant with joy;
no shadow of shame will darken their faces.”
Psalm 34 is a psalm sung in a "cave of refuge." Written by King David in the midst of a time of affliction, persecuted by King Saul and hated by the officials of bordering countries. He had to take refuge in a cave to be able to live, exemplifies the struggle that the believer has to be a foreigner in this world.
This psalm reminds us of the conviction for the coming answers of almighty God.
Psalm 23
«1The Lord is My Shepherd;
I have everything I need.
3He renews my strength.
He guides me on the right paths,
and thus he honors his name.
4Even when I pass
through the darkest valley,
I will not fear,"
Here King David identifies God as the Good Shepherd, referring to each of his children as his sheep.
This Psalm is a kind of metaphor where the shepherd is everything to his flock and vice versa, thus reflecting the provision and love that the heavenly Father has for each of his children as well as their need for the Father.
Psalm 121
«1I look up to the mountains,
Does my help come from there?
2My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
3He will not let you stumble;
the one who takes care of you will not sleep.
4Indeed, he who cares for Israel
never sleeps or dozes off.
5The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord is by your side as your protective shadow»
It can be interpreted that the psalmist is going through a difficulty, by saying that his help and relief do not come from the mountains but from their creator, he raises the greatness and power of God to face any difficulty that the believer suffers. Because for God nothing is impossible.
The following verses are confirmation of the grace that the Creator possesses by the work of his hands.
Psalm 27
«1The Lord is my light and my salvation,
so why should i fear?
The Lord is my strength and protects me from danger,
then why should it tremble?
10Although my father and my mother abandon me,
The Lord will keep me close.
11Teach me how to live, oh Lord.
Guide me on the right path
Because my enemies await me»
In Psalm 27 the psalmist experiences a series of tribulations, King David presents us with several scenes of enemies, armies, false friends, strife and even abandonment... it is a song that evokes the presence of Jehovah in the heart of the believer.
