I am the way the truth and the life: What does it mean?

The Lord tells you: I'm the way, the truth and the life, thereby saying that He is the only mediator between God and man. Therefore, no person needs an intercessor other than Jesus, to reach God.

I'm the way, the truth and the life

In chapter 14 of the Gospel of John we find a verse where Jesus tells us: I'm the way, the truth and the life. But what do these words of Jesus mean? What does the Lord want to tell us in this sentence?

To reflect on this expression of our Lord Jesus, it is necessary to remember the origin of humanity, in Adam and Eve. God created man, but he quickly heard a third voice and was seduced by it.

Adam and Eve disobeyed God by allowing themselves to be deceived by the serpent, giving entrance to sin. With the sin of the first man, the separation between him and God is produced.

But God, in his immense love for man, did not want him to remain separated from Him. So, since Genesis, he had already outlined his plan to reverse the deception of the serpent.

Genesis 3:15 (NIV): –I will make you and the woman enemies; I will put enmity between his descendants and yours. A son of his will crush your headand you will bite his heel.

This was the first and great promise of God for the salvation of mankind. God in his divine plan decides to incarnate in the form of a man in the person of Jesus, to forgive man.

Jesus came to earth in obedience to God the Father to consummate the perfect sacrifice, to die nailed to a cross. Through this pure and perfect sacrifice He gives us the opportunity to confidently enter the throne of grace to live together with Him for all eternity.

That is why Jesus has all the authority to proclaim that He is the only path to follow to reach the Father and our God. Only with Jesus can we know the truth and with Him is that we can only have access to eternal life.

Jesus: I am the way to the Father

In the expression of Jesus: I'm the way, the truth and the life, we see that the first thing that defines it is the path. But which way? Road to where? The term road indicates that it is a route or path that is followed to reach something or someone, Jesus tells us:

John 14:4 (ESV): You know the road that leads to where I'm going.

John 14: 12-14 (NIV): I assure you that whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and he will make still greater ones, because I go to where the Father is. 13 AND everything that you ask in my name, I will do it, so that through the Son the glory of the Father may be displayed. 14 me I will do anything you ask me in my name.

To walk the path of Jesus is to walk the path of faith, and faith makes us reach the Father, God. Let us remember that without faith it is impossible to please God, (Hebrews 11: 6).

Jesus: I am the truth that liberates

In Jesus the true nature of God is revealed, the love for humanity, for his entire creation. The evangelist John presents us with a key verse about God's great love for us:

John 3:16 (RVC): -Because God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him don't get lost, but have eternal life-.

Jesus in his earthly ministry dedicated himself to demonstrating the Father's love to all people: Healed the sick, freed people from demons, raised the dead, comforted the afflicted, and died on a cross for the salvation of many. Jesus spoke what the Father spoke and did what he saw the Father do (John 14: 10-11).

All the works of Jesus reveal to us the great love of God for us. Knowing that we are loved by God makes us live trusting in Him, frees us from fear and makes us be grateful, freely obeying His word.

Jesus: I am eternal life

God became incarnate in his son Jesus to give us the abundant life that he wants for us. In Christ we find a purposeful life, both on earth and in eternity.

Let us remember this and give no place to the devil, who wishes to separate us from God. This happens when we disobey God, so let's fix our eyes on Jesus, who gives us eternal life.

Come and know these verses of eternal life and salvation in Christ Jesus. They contain God's main promise of salvation through his Son Jesus Christ.

I am the way, the truth and the life: Looking to Jesus

If the Lord tells us I'm the way, the truth and the life, then we must obey his word and have our eyes fixed only on Jesus, as the word tells us in Hebrews 12:2. The expression of fixing our eyes on Jesus tells us not to divide our attention, faith and trust, between Him and other distractions that the world may show us.

Thus, the world permanently offers different distractions so that people contemplate objects, figures, to try to divert their trust or faith towards false idols or gods. But if our faith is well established and mature, we will not take our eyes off Jesus to place it on another thing or place.

Because our goal is Christ, in Him we place our faith and trust, Jesus is our only and sufficient Savior. Allow me at this time to speak to your spirit and say that if we take our eyes off Christ Jesus, we will be in serious danger, but how can we prevent this?

How to achieve that heart and mind are always focused on Christ?

Reading and applying the teachings that Jesus has left us in the scriptures. Being obedient to the word of God and not falling into temptation, diverting our attention to things that do not come from Him.

Jesus teaches us: I'm the way, the truth and the lifeLet us then be obedient, and despite the difficulties, let us trust his word. Because if He is the true way, when we put our eyes on Jesus, our walk will be easier.

Jesus-5

The false devil angel deceiver and distractor

The scriptures teach us from the beginning about the cunning of the devil to deceive and divert man's attention from God. Let us not then allow the deceiver to divide our mind and heart between two thoughts, as it is written in:

1 Kings 18:21 (KJV-2015): Elijah approached all the people and said: —How long will they vacillate between two opinions?? If the Lord is God, follow him! And if Baal, follow him! But the town did not answer anything.

Satan even disguises himself as an angel of light in order to mislead a believer's faith, leading him to worship and trust in creation. But the true believer knows that only God has the power to create and the one who died for us, Jesus, is the only one worthy of worship and praise:

2 Corinthians 11:14 (NKJV): And this should not surprise us, because even Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

Jeremiah 10:11 (NLT) Tell those who worship other gods:Their so-called gods, who did not make the heavens and the earth, will disappear from the earth and from under the heavens».

Hebrews 12:1-2a (ESV): 1 Por eso, we, having around us so many people who have shown their faith, let us put aside everything that hinders us and the sin that entangles us, and run with strength the race that lies ahead. 2 Let us fix our gaze on Jesus, because our faith comes from him and he is the one who perfects it.

Eyes only on Jesus

So our attention should not be separated from Jesus, or even divided with other things. Our attention must have only one objective: Christ Jesus our savior!

So let us put all our attention on Jesus, since our faith comes from Him. Jesus is the one who makes our faith perfect and bigger and better. Let us remember that our Lord endured the shame of dying crucified because he knew that all that suffering would lead him to the happiness of saving many, and now he is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Amen! Thank my Lord!
